Interview Report Writing and Verbal Evaluation

Our stage two preparation courses cover all aspects of this part of the Garda Síochána selection competition. Courses are held when the results of the aptitude test are released and cover the following:

Verbal Evaluation Test

As part of the stage two selection applicants are required to undergo testing in verbal evaluation. This involves reading passages and assessing the validity of statements which follow them. This is a timed test and was originally part of the aptitude test prior to its being revamped in 2006.

 As part of our stage two preparation courses we cover tests of this nature. Again as in stage one good test technique is recapped and candidates are taught how to approach such tests and the pitfalls to be aware of while sitting them.

Form Filling

Due to the nature of the Garda Traniee application form our stage two course also covers form filling and how to approach this often under estimated aspect of the competition. Candidates receive advise on how to fill the forms in a structured way so as to maxamise their potential performance at the interview.

Interview Technique

A Presentation on interview Techniques will also be included. This will have particular relevance to the Garda interview including typical questions and possible answers, with emphasis being placed on the new competency based interview as used by An Garda Síochána.

Report Writing Exercise

As part of the selection process for An Garda Síochána applicants will be required to sit a report writing exercise. Subsequently course participants will receive a lecture on report writing outlining good report writing practice and how marks can be gained in this part of the competition.

Optional Mock Interview

An optional mock interview can also be arranged. This will be organized for interested course participants on the weekend following the course. The mock interview will be carried out by a three person board with expertise in this particular field.

Test Preparations have been holding these courses at the Dublin Tutorial Centre since 1996.  During this time we have had an extremely high success rate at both Stage 1 (Aptitude test) and Stage 2 (Interview, report writing and verbal evaluation) of the selection process.

Qualifications

All Test Preparations Instructors are qualified teachers, holding either an Honours or Masters Degree and Higher Diploma in Education. In addition to this our principal Instructor, Paul O’Reilly is qualified in test administration to British Psychometric Society Standards.
